CSV Formatting Tips for Smooth Imports

A clean CSV ensures your import goes smoothly.

1. Use simple column headers

Examples:

  • Name
  • Email
  • Phone
  • Company
  • Notes
  • Tags

2. Avoid special characters

Characters like #, &, or | can break imports.

3. Use UTF‑8 encoding

This prevents issues with accents or special letters.

4. Keep tags comma‑separated

Example: client,high priority,q2 outreach

5. Remove empty rows

Blank rows can cause errors.

6. Save as CSV (not Excel)

Make sure the file ends in .csv.
